Day One Reflection and Looking Forward

Well...our first day is done and dusted.  We've done a lot of administration and talking, and a little bit of getting to know each other.  I am really excited about the year ahead, and what we're going to achieve.  In the comments section below, I want to you write your name (only your first name), and answer each question:

1.  'Take up the Challenge' is our motto, and something the lighthouse class have been known for traditionally. What
do you want to do outside of the class this year?

2.  What things do you think are important for our class to run smoothly this year, with each person getting the most out of it?

Do you have any other interests apart from football? Do you have anything new you would like to try out this year? Tell us more about yourself or hobbies/interests interests.
Elaborate on this idea. How are we going to get our work done faster?
Overall I think this post was very down the point.

  2. Jackson: 1. I want to continue taking OOSM lessons to help improve my piano playing. I will also play cricket for the school because I love cricket. I am going to try out for Lit Quiz again, because that was fun and exciting last year. Hopefully we have some good readers in Year 7.

    2. Our class needs to be strong as leaders so we can help the Year 7's develop into leaders themselves next year. As a class we need to support each other.

I will hopefully be apart of the out of school band, water polo both not competitive in term one and competitive in term four. I will also be playing netball for the school.

Q2. support each other in learning/sport activities. Encourage each other as much as possible.

    2. I think communication and organisation will be huge factors in a successful class room because without it we may not know when to get homework finished or how to manage our time around out of school activities. We will need to share our ideas with each other to decide the best answer or outcome.

  21. Hunter: I really like my sport, so I want to keep at it with all my out of school activities such as: Track cycling and mountain biking, Karate, Swimming, and Rugby. I also love music, so this year i'll be looking to make the pulse bands, and I'm doing OOSM and OOSM band. I also have one more passion, and thats making things with my hands, and to narrow that down a little, Woodworking and Painting. I'm a self taught in both, with a bit of of help from the web of course.... I'm thinking of starting classes in woodworking, to hone my skills and knowledge. I don't think that good craftsmanship is appreciated half as much as it was 50 years ago, which is probably due to the fact that there is an easier and faster way to do it, a.k.a plastic. I really like the satisfaction that I get when I complete something that I worked hard for. I think that this great for me in the mind and body, because I get better faster stronger, in all my activities

For the class to move along smoothly this year, I think that most thing should be voted among the class, this way everybody gets a fair share, and anyways, I think that the people the have made it into the class should have to mindset to make a good decision. I also think that this next thing probably won't happen in a class like this, but I think that people should feel comfortable enough to tell the teacher or one of their peers if there is a problem in the class going on. I like having a safe, positive working environment where we all feel safe and appreciated :D

I just typed this message, and it disappeared, but here we go again!

This year, I would really like to grow in a lot of areas. Maths, problem solving, world knowledge, but mostly, music. Music has always been my passion, and I feel like I have natural talent, but I've only ever had one years tutoring, which explains my lack of theory. I would love to learn more about my guitar, and how to play it, so I will either join OOSM, or continue to teach myself. I would also like to improve my IB skills, and the most important one to me is tolerance. In the past, I've found it hard to work with any one but my friends and accept others personality differences, and have had minor conflict with "people" in general. I feel like almost everyone has most likely experienced the same thing, but I know this is something I need to work on.

I want this year to be a smooth year. Year 7 was an amazing year for me, and I really want to be able to work in a similar environment to then; happy, conflict-free and easy-going. I know that learning consists of hard work and determination, but if I, and everyone else, can finish their work on time and to good standards, get along with each other and contribute to the class room, this year will be smooth for everyone. Being in rm 10's environment today, has given me high hopes that this year will be awesome, and I hope everyone makes the most of being the schools leaders.
