IB: PYP in Action at Berkley

We are an International Baccalaureate (IB )World School and a part of the Primary Years Programme (PYP)

The most significant curriculum aspect of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years’ Programme are the six Transdisciplinary Themes which frame the majority of learning:

How We Organise Ourselves
Who We Are
Where We Are In Time & Place
How The World Works
Sharing The Planet
How We Express Ourselves

In Room 10, we will be engaging with all of the six themes over the course of the year.
These themes have led us to develop a programme of inquiry, in which the students investigate important ideas with a high level of involvement in inquiry.

Inquiry Learning

Inquiry is a vehicle for learning in the PYP and the basis of our curriculum. It builds on children’s natural curiosity and sense of wonder about the world. Through this approach, children engage in learning and activities that support them in actively exploring, asking questions, solving problems, applying theories and information, and drawing conclusions.
